What We Do

Professional Tap Repair Services

A dripping tap may seem like a minor annoyance, but a tap dripping at just one drop per second wastes over 10,000 litres of water a year — costing you money and putting unnecessary strain on your plumbing system. Our plumbers diagnose and fix all common tap problems quickly and affordably, from worn washers and faulty cartridges to damaged O-rings and seized headgear.

We repair all types of taps including traditional pillar taps, quarter-turn ball valves, ceramic disc cartridge mixers, and monobloc mixer taps. Our engineers carry a comprehensive stock of washers, cartridges, O-rings, and seals for all the major brands including Grohe, Hansgrohe, Bristan, Pegler, and Armitage Shanks — meaning most repairs are completed in a single visit.

Beyond the drip, we also address taps that are difficult to turn, taps with a reduced flow rate caused by blocked aerators or limescale build-up, and taps producing fluctuating temperatures due to faulty thermostatic cartridges. Limescale is a common issue in hard water areas and can significantly reduce the lifespan of tap internals if left untreated.

In some cases, where internal components are no longer available for older taps, we'll advise whether a complete replacement is more cost-effective than a repair. We'll always give you an honest recommendation and a clear comparison of costs before proceeding.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it worth repairing a dripping tap or should I replace it?

In most cases, repair is the more cost-effective option — especially for quality taps. A washer or cartridge replacement is significantly cheaper than full replacement. However, if the tap body is corroded, cracked, or the parts are obsolete, we'll advise an honest comparison so you can make an informed decision.

My tap drips even after being turned off fully. What's wrong?

This is typically a worn washer (on older taps) or a failed ceramic disc cartridge (on modern quarter-turn taps). Both are straightforward repairs that our plumbers carry out regularly. We stock cartridges for all the major brands, so we can usually fix this in one visit.

Can you fix a tap that's very stiff and hard to turn?

Yes. Stiffness is usually caused by limescale build-up around the headgear or spindle, or a worn/swollen washer. We'll dismantle the tap, clean or replace the affected components, and lubricate all moving parts so the tap operates smoothly again.

The water flow from my tap has reduced significantly. Why?

A reduced flow rate is most commonly caused by a blocked or clogged aerator at the tap spout — this is especially common in hard water areas where limescale accumulates. We'll remove, clean, or replace the aerator. If the issue is elsewhere in the tap mechanism, we'll diagnose and fix the root cause.

How long does a tap repair take?

Most tap repairs take between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on the type of fault and tap. If we need to source a specific cartridge or part not held on the van, we'll arrange a follow-up visit promptly — usually within 24 hours.
